About Miho
Miho's interest in Pilates has its origins in her lifelong passion for dance. She studied various genres of dance at performing arts schools in Tokyo and Seattle before attending the Alvin Ailey Dance school in New York to study modern, contemporary, and jazz dance. This laid the foundations for several years working as a full time dancer at a theme park in Tokyo.
Miho then turned her attention to more acrobatic forms of dance, studying pole dance acrobatics under the former world champion for several years, and then winning a place to study aerial tissue acrobatics full time. Miho's many public performances of demanding pole and aerial acrobatic routines in the coming years were accompanied by various muscle and joint injuries, and it was during her struggle to recover from such injuries that she discovered the great benefits of Pilates. She gained an FTP Diploma in Basic Mat Pilates Instructing in 2008, and started teaching classes in Tokyo. After the birth of her son in 2009 she started teaching Mothers & Babies Pilates classes. In 2011 she moved to Brighton with her English husband and their children. In 2014 Miho gained the CYQ Nationally Recognised Level 3 Diploma in Mat Pilates, and became a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). She loves to share her knowledge, experience, passion for, and enjoyment of Pilates with class members in Brighton. |
